Numbered list in Microsoft Word

A numbered list in Microsoft Word is used in situations where the order or identification of items is important. In DStyle/LegalWord we make sure that the numbered lists in your house style, i.e. with the correct font, character size and with correct indentation are available in the Layout panel so that you have them at your disposal at the click of a button.

Here are some situations in which you might use a numbered list:

Steps: If you are presenting a series of instructions or steps to be performed in a specific order, a numbered list is useful. Numbering the steps allows the reader to follow the sequence.

Example:

  1. Create a new document.
  2. Type your text.
  3. Save the document.
  4. Enumerations: If you want to display a list of items whose order is not strictly important, but each item must be identified by a number, a numbered list is appropriate.

Procedures: When describing complex procedures, a numbered list can help make the steps clear and emphasize the sequence.

Example:

  1. Turn on the computer.
  2. Open the program.
  3. Select "File" and then "New."

So in general, we can say that a numbered list is used when the order of items is important or when you want to identify specific items. It provides an organized and structured way to present information so that the reader can easily follow and identify the items.
